How we got started

As a firefighter I am around fire apparatus daily, and it has always been my dream to own my own. When I started in the fire service back in the late 80’s, the first engine I rode on was a Mack CF Engine and from that first call I was hooked.

In August of 2022, fate knocked on my door when I saw a listing for an 84 Mack CF Engine that was for sale just two hours from me. The very next day I took the drive down, saw this truck, fell in love with it and the rest is as they say history.

On the drive home we headed up the New York State Thruway for the two-hour drive back home. Unfortunately, trouble would find us when we were about 30 minutes from home. Suddenly the truck down shifted and would not go over 40 miles per hour. We quickly pulled off at the next rest stop and as we suspected, the rough, bumpy road had caused us to rupture one of the lines for the transmission. Checking under the truck confirmed our suspicions. A quick call to Roberts Towing who saved the day by getting to us in record time and towed us to Gabrielli Truck Sales for repair. While at the repair shop we had them go through the entire truck and correct some other issues which they discovered, and one might expect to find in a 40-year-old fire truck. A little over a week later and we were given a clean bill of health and finally able to bring the truck home.
